How to Transfer Music To An iPad

Instructions

    • 1

First, to transfer music to your iPad from a computer you will need to have iTunes on the computer. This is a free download for both Mac and PC.

If you do not already have iTunes, go to the iTunes website to download and install it prior to continuing.

Next, ensure that the iPad and the computer and turned on.

    • 3

Now connect the USB chord to both the iPad (30 pin connector end) and the computer. When you do this, iTunes should recognize the iPad and automatically open. If it does not, open up iTunes.

If this is the first time you've connected the iPad to iTunes on this computer, you may have to go through some quick setup steps.

Once connected, you will see the iPad as a device in the left hand column of iTunes (same column as playlists, iTunes store, etc.). Click on the iPad icon in this column.

In the resulting window (within iTunes), select the Music tab from the top of the screen. In this screen, you will be able to select what music you wish to transfer to the iPad. You can choose from your entire song library or individual playlists.

Last, click "Apply" towards the bottom of the screen to sync the music to your iPad. You're now ready to listen to music on your shiny new iPad.
